Cascade Playground

Cascade Playground activation and events are sponsored by a Parks Department grant managed by the YMCA. A Friends of Cascade Committee made up of neighbors, small business owners, non-profits, and community leaders meets monthly to reach consensus.

All programming is free to the public, and encourages access to the outdoors and community engagement through free activities, with a focus on increased access to art, music, culture, youth and family activities, health and fitness, sustainability and community building.

Events & Activation

Our park activation model offers free and inclusive events, dedicated staffing, regular programming, and investment in colorful park amenities to foster community engagement. While all classes, events and equipment are free to the public, we are able to pay instructors, artists, performers, and other vendors through our grant funding and private donations. We welcome all ideas and contributions. Please contact Zoe at with inquiries.

seattle parks and recreation

Seattle Parks and Recreation provides the Urban Parks Partnership grant to support the activation work we do in Cascade Playground. Their oversight and management has allowed our events, staffing, and activation run smoothly in Cascade Playground for the past 4 years.

the YMCA

The YMCA at the Cascade People’s Center is the neighborhood partner for our grant-funded programs. They have run their leadership and outdoor adventure programs in the center in Cascade Playground for 9 years and know the park well!

the common acre

The Common Acre stewards the Giving Garden in Cascade Playground. For the past three years they have worked to renovate the grounds into a thriving community giving garden that grows food for our local food banks and soup kitchens. They have partnered with many neighborhood agencies and have supported park activation through volunteer days, kids classes, workshops, and garden bbq’s.
